We are pleased to announce that Danielle Ippolito, PhD, CMPP has joined the Science Team at PharmaWrite Medical Communications and MedVal Scientific Information Services as a researcher and medical writer.
Dr. Ippolito, an award-winning research scientist, writer, and presenter, brings to PharmaWrite and MedVal nearly 25 years of experience in toxicology, pharmacology, maternal-fetal medicine, gestational diabetes, military medicine, reproductive health, chronic pain management, opioid addiction, and diagnostic devices. She has also authored oncology press releases for a major cancer research center and conducted basic research in breast cancer. Much of her work has focused on proteomics, an innovative diagnostic field in which proteins and other biomarkers within the blood are used to assess overall patient health and diagnose disease.
Dr. Ippolito has won 10 awards for excellence in research, including 2 awards for best manuscript. She has authored 35 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, Molecular & Cellular Proteomics, American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Molecular Systems Biology, Journal of Neuroscience, Neuron, and Journal of Surgical Research, among others. She has presented widely at scientific congresses and has coordinated and written clinical and preclinical protocols, patent applications for in vitro diagnostic assays, and gap analyses in support of military medical products. During her 11-year tenure with the US Army at Ft. Detrick, MD and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, Dr. Ippolito managed a $3.3M medical research budget and provided scientific leadership for 11 personnel. As the Director of Research for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division at Madigan Army Medical Center, she served on the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and was mentor and/or thesis advisor for 26 fellows and students.
Dr. Ippolito has earned certificates in medical writing and regulatory writing and a certification in Science & Technology Management, and is a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed publications. She is a Regional Coordinator and member of the American Medical Writers Association and a member of the DC Science Writers Association, and has received the Certified Medical Publication Professional certification. Dr. Ippolito holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Washington-Seattle, with a dissertation on pharmacological targets for opioid drugs used in chronic pain management. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology/Toxicology with a double-major in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
