June 1, 2015
Princeton, NJ

PharmaWrite, LLC, a full-service medical communication company, today announced that it has named Gregory Kopia, PhD, as Senior Medical Writer.

Dr. Kopia's formal training is in Pharmacology, with broad experience in the preclinical discovery of cardiovascular drugs and preclinical efficacy and safety of intravascular drug/device combination products (stents). As a Research Fellow at the Cordis Corporation, Dr. Kopia was involved in extensive work in the histopathology (safety and efficacy) of vascular devices used for post-angioplasty restenosis, including stents, balloon delivery catheters, and drug-device combinations. He is one of the recognized inventors of CYPHER®, the first commercially successful drug-eluting stent, and was deeply involved with the early research and development of this milestone therapeutic device. Between his work at Cordis, prior work at Zynaxis Cell Science (a local drug delivery start-up company), and his consulting activities, he has 20 years of experience in the preclinical evaluation of local therapies for vascular disease, encompassing both drugs and devices.

Dr. Kopia has authored or co-authored more than 90 publications, including full papers, abstracts, and book chapters and holds numerous patents. His additional areas of expertise include preclinical strategies and experimental design for animal testing of drugs and devices, development of new novel stent drug formulations, pharmacokinetics, biostatistical approaches and methods for data analysis, patenting, business development, and GLP animal study requirements and standards.

Dr. Kopia received his degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences) and received additional post-doctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Benedict Lucchesi in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical School. He is a member of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

"We are very pleased to welcome Greg to our team,” said Lou Greco, PharmD, President of PharmaWrite. "The combination of Greg's pharmacology training and preclinical experience, along with his extensive medical writing resume, strengthens the PharmaWrite scientific team.”
